A man named Vikram Singh, who was a major in the Indian army sent to Sri Lanka during the conflict, narrates his story of betrayal, kidnapping, and uncovering a conspiracy while seeking revenge for his wifes murder, ultimately leaving to start a new chapter in his life after the civil war ends. Madras Cafe is a 2013 Indian Hindi-language Action Drama motion picture featuring John Abraham, Nargis Fakhri, Raashi Khanna, Siddharth Basu, Prakash Belawadi, Avijit Dutt and Sudhanva Deshpande. JA Entertainment in association with Rising Sun Films. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) John Abraham, Ronnie Lahiri, Sheel Kumar and Sudhanshu Vats. Madras Cafe is written by Shubhendu Bhattacharya, Juhi Chaturvedi, Somnath Dey, Dusan Tolmac, Shubendu Bhattacharya and Tushar Jain and it is directed by Shoojit Sircar. Viacom 18 Motion Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the film. Madras Cafe was released on 23rd August 2013 and takes a screen time of 120 minutes. Madras Cafe was made on a budget of ₹35 crore and it was a hit at box office gross of ₹43 crore. Cinematography was done by Kamaljeet Negi and editing by Chandrashekhar Prajapati. The music was composed by Shantanu Moitra. At the 2014 Filmfare Awards It won 2 awards including: Best Cinematography and Best Sound Design.
