John Luther, a police officer consumed by the darkness of the crimes he investigates, forms an unlikely bond with a brilliant psychopath and murderer who becomes both his nemesis and companion, and after she helps him avenge the death of his estranged wife, his life becomes dominated by police work until she reappears and convinces him to leave London, leading to a destructive climax. Luther is a 2010 English-language Crime Drama television series featuring Idris Elba, Ruth Wilson, Steven Mackintosh, Indira Varma, Paul Mcgann, Saskia Reeves and Matt Sproit. BBC Studios Drama Productions was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Katie Swinden. Series originally aired on BBC One. BBC Studios acquired the distribution rights for the series. Creator of the series is Neil Cross. The television show has a running time of 51-63 minutes for each episode. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released. Luther was made on a budget of $30 million and at the box office it grossed only $29 million.
