The film depicts the intertwined lives of college students Rohan, Abhimanyu, and Shanaya as they navigate their ambitions, relationships, and personal growth while participating in a student competition, ultimately culminating in a heartwarming reunion with their former Dean. Student of the Year is a 2012 Indian Hindi-language Comedy Drama motion picture featuring Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Rishi Kapoor, Ronit Roy, Ram Kapoor and Chobber Sidhu. Dharma Productions in association with Red Chillies Entertainment. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan, Hiroo Yash Johar and Gauri Khan. Student of the Year is written by Renzil D silva, Niranjan Iyengar, Karan Johar and Rensil D silva and it is directed by Karan Johar and Abhishek Varman. AA Films acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Student of the Year was released on 19th October 2012 and takes a screen time of 146 minutes. Student of the Year was made on a budget of ₹65 crore and it was a hit at box office gross of ₹65 crore. Cinematography was done by Ayananka Bose and editing by Deepa Bhatia. The music was composed by IIFA Award winner Shekhar Ravjiani along with Vishal Dadlani and Vishal Shekhar.
