An unemployed writer struggling with alcoholism moves back to her hometown and takes a job at a bar, where her alcoholism worsens; meanwhile, a giant monster appears in Seoul whenever she walks through a local playground at 8:05 am and she discovers that the monster mimics her movements, leading to guilt and attempts to make amends, while jealousy and tension arise between her and her childhood friend who hired her at the bar, ultimately resulting in her defeating him and saving Seoul before apologizing to her ex-boyfriend and returning to work at the bar. Colossal is a 2017 English-language Action Comedy movie starring Anne Hathaway, Jason Sudeikis, Dan Stevens, Austin Stowell, Tim Blake Nelson, Hannah Cheramy and Andrew Suttar. Voltage Pictures in association with Route One Entertainment, Legion M, Union Investment Partners, Sayaka Producciones and Brightlight Pictures. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Nicolas Chartier, Shawn Williamson, Nahikari Ipi A, Russell Levine, Zev Foreman and Dominic Rustam. The movie is written and directed by Nacho Vigalondo. Neon acquired the distribution rights for the film. Colossal was released on 8th June 2017 and takes a screen time of 110 minutes. Colossal was made on a budget of $15 million and at the box office it grossed only $4 million. Cinematography was done by Eric Kress and editing by Ben Baudhuin and Luke Doolan. The music was composed by Bear Mccreary.
